I like Nakshi Kantha because Nakshi kantha, a form of embroidered quilt, is a centuries-old Bengali art tradition in the Bengal region. The name "Nakshi Kantha" was derived from the Bengali word "naksha" which refers to artistic patterns. Nakshi kantha is made all over Bangladesh, but Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Faridpur and Jessore are famous for nakshi kantha. Today ‘Nakshi Kantha’ is treated as a traditional form of folk art as well as catering to top designers for their haute-couture creations.
Its design is very glamourous. Nakshi Kantha is comfortable to wear. Moreover, The culture of rural Bengal was highlighted in Nakshi Kantha. Traditionally, kantha was created for family use. Today, after the revival of the nakshi kantha, they are commercially made.
These precious works of art remain silent witnesses of the past, present, and future of Bangladesh.
